How to Change the Meeting View in Teams (Gallery, Large Gallery, Together Mode and Focus)

Teams decides how to lay out a meeting for you, but you don't have to accept it. The View menu lets you see more faces, fewer faces, or everyone sitting in a virtual auditorium.
Open the View menu
In a meeting, click View in the toolbar at the top. The options only affect your own screen; everyone else keeps their own layout.
Gallery
The default. Teams shows the people who've spoken most recently in a grid, up to 9 tiles with the sidebar. Choose Gallery to get back to normal.
Large gallery
Shows up to 49 people at once in a 7 × 7 grid. Choose View > Large gallery. If there are more people, use the arrows to page through. It needs at least 10 people with video on before it switches on.
Together mode
Everyone's video is cut out and placed in seats in a shared scene, like a lecture theatre or a coffee shop. Choose View > Together mode, then pick a scene with Change scene. It's surprisingly good at making a remote team feel like they're in one room.
Focus
Hides everyone's video and shows only the shared content. Choose View > Focus on content when someone is presenting slides and you want them as large as possible.
Speaker view
Shows the current speaker large with everyone else in a strip. Choose View > Speaker. Good for a presentation where one person is doing most of the talking.
Handy extras
• Hide me: hover over your own tile and click ⋯ > Hide for me. You're still on camera for others, but you stop watching yourself.
• Full screen: View > Full screen removes the Teams window frame.
• Everyone the same size: in Gallery, click View > Everyone at the same size so a speaker doesn't keep jumping to a bigger tile.
• Fit to frame / Fill frame: right-click a video tile to stop heads being cropped off.
• Full screen: View > Full screen removes the Teams window frame.
• Everyone the same size: in Gallery, click View > Everyone at the same size so a speaker doesn't keep jumping to a bigger tile.

Troubleshooting
Large gallery is greyed out. It needs 10 or more people with cameras on. It also won't work in the browser version of Teams.
I can't find Together mode. It's only in the desktop app, and the organiser can turn it on for everyone or leave it to each person.
Shared content is tiny. Choose View > Focus on content, or drag the divider between the content and the video strip.
Wrapping up
Click View and pick Gallery, Large gallery, Together mode or Focus depending on whether you want faces or slides. Use Hide for me to stop watching yourself and get on with the meeting.
