How to Post an Announcement in a Teams Channel (and Post to Several Channels at Once)

Some messages deserve more than a line of text. An announcement gets a big headline and a coloured banner, so the office closure or the new starter doesn't scroll past unnoticed.
Post an announcement
1. Open the channel and click Start a post at the bottom.
2. Click Post type (it says Post at the top of the box) and choose Announcement.
3. Type a headline in the big banner area.
4. Add a subheading if you want one.
5. Type the body of the message underneath, with formatting if you like.
6. Click Post.
2. Click Post type (it says Post at the top of the box) and choose Announcement.
3. Type a headline in the big banner area.
4. Add a subheading if you want one.
5. Type the body of the message underneath, with formatting if you like.
6. Click Post.
The announcement appears in the channel with the headline on a banner.
Change the banner
Click the colour or image icon on the banner. Pick a colour scheme, choose one of Microsoft's illustrations, or Upload an image of your own (wide images work best).
Post to several channels at once
Sending the same notice to three teams? Don't paste it three times:
1. In the post box, click Post in multiple channels (or ⋯ > Post in multiple channels).
2. Click Select channels and tick each one.
3. Write the post and click Post.
2. Click Select channels and tick each one.
3. Write the post and click Post.
It lands in every channel you ticked. Edits you make later apply everywhere too.
Turn off replies
For a pure notice, click ⋯ in the post box and choose Everyone can reply > You and moderators can reply. People can still react with an emoji, but the post won't turn into a discussion. (Channel moderation must be on for this option; owners can switch it on under channel settings.)
Make sure people see it
• @mention the team or channel in the body, or use a tag, so people get a notification.
• Mark it Important with the ! icon to add a red flag.
• Pin it afterwards: hover over the post, click ⋯ > Pin, and it sits at the top of the channel.

• Pin it afterwards: hover over the post, click ⋯ > Pin, and it sits at the top of the channel.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the Post type option. Click Format (the A with a pen) first to expand the box; the post type sits at the top of the expanded box.
Post in multiple channels is missing. You can only post across channels in teams you're a member of, and some organisations turn it off. Check you're in the expanded post box.
My announcement looks like a normal post on phones. The banner shows on mobile too but smaller. Keep the headline short.
Wrapping up
Start a post > Post type > Announcement, write a headline, pick a banner. Use Post in multiple channels for company-wide news and pin it when it matters. Big news deserves a big banner.
