How to Switch Between Accounts and Organisations in Teams
Work account, a client who's made you a guest, a volunteer group, your personal Microsoft account. The new Teams app handles all of them in one place, with one click to switch, and one list of notifications across the lot.

Switch organisations

If you've been added to another organisation's team as a guest, or you have a second account:
1. Click your profile picture at the top right.
2. Under Accounts and orgs, click the organisation you want.
Teams switches over. Your sidebar, chats and calendar now show that organisation. Click your picture again to switch back.

Add another account

1. Click your profile picture > Add another account (or Manage account, then Add account).
2. Sign in with the second work, school or personal account.
3. It appears in the Accounts and orgs list.
You can add several. Personal accounts (outlook.com, hotmail.com) appear alongside work ones.

See notifications from everywhere

Each organisation in the list shows an unread badge, so you can tell a client has messaged you without switching. Banner notifications for meetings and mentions arrive from any account, and clicking one takes you straight there.

Teams on your phone

Tap your profile picture > Settings (the cog) and tap Add account. Switch by tapping your picture and choosing the account or organisation. The badges work the same way.

Sign out of one account

Click your profile picture > Manage account, hover over the account and click Sign out. The others stay signed in.

Leave an organisation you're a guest in

You can't remove a guest membership from your end. Ask the owner of the team to remove you, and the organisation disappears from your list.

Troubleshooting

The organisation is missing from the list. You haven't accepted the guest invitation yet. Find the invitation email and click the link in it.
Teams keeps asking me to sign in again. Your organisation's security policy requires it. Install Microsoft Authenticator and approve the prompts.
I'm chatting with someone but can't see the message. You're in the wrong organisation. Check the badge and switch.
A personal account won't add. Old versions of Teams kept personal and work in separate apps. Update to the new Teams app, which combines them.

Wrapping up

Click your profile picture and pick the organisation; use Add another account for a second login. Watch the unread badges beside each one, and you'll never miss a message from a client just because you were in the wrong Teams.
