Fun and games on lockdown

Being on lockdown isn’t fun, so I’ve selected a few fun games and apps for kids and adults alike.

Tux Paint - Painting package for kids

I remember when my niece and nephew were small, they loved to draw and paint using TuxPaint. You can use stickers in your artwork and there is even a rainbow brush. TuxPaint is available at tuxpaint.org

Tux Racer

Another fun game for kids of all ages, this one was downloaded a million times between 2000 and 2001. The game is still popular. They even made an arcade version of it. You can download it from tuxracer.sourceforge.net

World of Tanks

World of Tanks is my brother-in-law’s favourite game. It is an MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game where you drive and fire tanks at the enemy. The focus is on realism, so the tanks look as close as possible to the real thing. You can join the action at worldoftanks.eu

World of Warships

If you want your realism with a more naval adventure, then maybe World of Warships is for you, with the same realism as World of Tanks on the oceans. You can play at: worldofwarships.eu

Open RA

Command and Conquer was a popular game in the past, sparking several different versions. One of these games was called Red Alert, and Open Red Alert provides a great playable version. If you own the original CDs, you can watch the videos and other content, which would not otherwise be available to you (since the original games don’t play on Windows 10) but you can play these ames without the original CDs and they are just as good. Included is a version of Dune 2000, Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert and is availble from openra.net

FlightGear

FlightGear is a flight simulator that offers a realistic flying experience for a wide range of interests. You can play at www.flightgear.org

Conclusion

There is lots of fun to be found online, lots of games that you wouldn’t normally consider, and these are all free.

Keep safe and enjoy!
