LocalSend: Free AirDrop for Mac, Windows and Android

AirDrop is brilliant, as long as everyone has an Apple device. The moment you need to send a photo to an Android phone or a file to a Windows laptop, you're back to emailing it to yourself.
LocalSend works like AirDrop for everything. Install it on each device, and they find each other on your Wi-Fi. No account, no cloud, no internet connection needed.
What is LocalSend?
LocalSend is a free, open-source app for sharing files and text between nearby devices on the same network. It runs on Mac, Windows, Linux, Android and iPhone, finds other devices automatically, and sends files directly between them using encrypted connections. Nothing goes through the internet, and there's no sign-up.

FAQ
Is LocalSend safe?
Yes. It's open source, transfers are encrypted, and files never leave your local network. You approve each incoming transfer unless you turn that off.
Does it work on public Wi-Fi?
Sometimes not, as many public and work networks block devices from seeing each other. It works best on your home network or a phone hotspot.
