WordPad – Microsoft’s forgotten word processor

WordPad

Did you know that Microsoft created a free word processor called Write, which has been around since the very first version of Windows (1.0)?

Ever since Windows 95, this program has been called WorfPad and in recent years has been revamped to look more like Word.

It doesn’t have the advanced features that Word offers, such as tables or pagination but you can insert pictures, as well as use different fonts and alignment, even bullets and numbering.

Microsoft has hidden it, because they want people to buy Office. However, WordPad is a lot simpler, smaller and a lot faster than Word.

You can find this program under Windows Accessories along with notepad, which is no-frills text editor.
